The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine has performed the first-ever surgery in Turkey to implant a patient’s own knee cartilage, which was prepared and produced in a laboratory. By culturing cartilage cells and applying them to the patient, long-term disabilities can be prevented.
